Susan's Road Trip to California--Continued

This is probably the longest road trip EVER. Before it ends back in Texas next year sometime I will have experienced many things from ecstatic spiritual highs to deep humility and pain. In the end I will come out stronger and knowing more than ever. My TX pastor said it best--I have a great CAPACITY to grow spiritually. If only it weren't so hard to do. If only you could fail alone.

Sometimes dreams fill you with insight:

When I first moved in, I had a lot of trouble with my refrigerator. It would work then not work at all, then the freezer would not, then it did and the fridge didn’t etc. I got sick of losing food. My landlords were useless and the man they sent to fix it was utterly hopeless—a man on the PHONE at a repair shop was accurate about the problem and he hadn’t seen it.

So I set out to secure a new fridge. Thank God for Cindy Zemet—the woman staying with Darrell and Terry whose family is moving out here from Ohio. I called to see if they had a dolly and they did but Cindy picked up the phone and offered to help me. I bought a new and small fridge at Lowe’s and not wanting to pay $50 for delivery (Give me a BREAK!) after shelling out an unexpected $250 for a fridge, we moved it upstairs by ourselves. Then we went to get rid of the other one. We actually had to ask some people to help us get it down because it was so big. My new fridge is fine—small but cold!

Last night had a VERY powerful dream I can’t shake. In this dream Robin and Steve were helping me buy a new refrigerator. I had my new one but it wasn’t big enough—so we were looking for a larger used one. The idea was that the small one I currently have, although new, was temporary and needed something larger. So we were in a car—go figure—driving around the lake areas north and south of Tyler. Steve wanted to eat at some fish place south of Tyler and somehow Darrell and Terry got into this dream, and they were going to help too—eventually they were gone, I think.

So the three of us were in the car and debating over that blasted fridge and eating at this restaurant. And then it was like I had a HUGE epiphany. I said:

“Guys! WHY AM I BUYING ANOTHER FRIDGE WHEN THE ONE I HAVE AT HOME IS NEW AND WORKS FINE? LET’S GO EAT!”

When I said that it all seemed so CLEAR! I felt a huge weight had lifted.

We were heading north, but with that decision, we got to go south to the restaurant Steve liked. We were heading that way when Darrell and Terry called and offered to come help with the fridge.

Then I woke up.
